Hello from your SIMA Board. The new senior center is taking shape. After months of moving dirt around, we have a building going up.

We have been busy raising money for the center. In June we cleared about $8,000 from our annual casino night. As our usual now, we were at capacity. We look forward to being able to have our first one in our new center were we will have plenty of room.

In June we also had our annual Charity Tuesday night at Fish City. This is our 4th year for this event. We earned $533 from the night’s event.

We are busy planning other opportunities for the community to be involved in the new senior center. Look for our next event June 2, 2015. It will be fun and different.

We are already into our brick sales. We will have a wonderful patio and garden area in the back of the new center. We are selling bricks to enhance the walk leading to the patio. These bricks are $100 each. You may honor a loved one or add your add to the supporters of the senior center. We have order forms located on our website.

We are excited about the addition of our donor tree that will enhance the entrance to the center. As you enter the atrium on the front left wall, we will install a donor tree. This will be our main art focal point for the new center.   This will allow memorials to honor loved and show support for the center in the years to come.   We will have 3 levels of trees; $150, $250 and $500. In addition at the base of the trees, we will have acorns for $1,000.00 and stones for $5,000. Our first acorn was purchased by DATCU and the first stone by Flower Mound Hospital Auxiliary.

Blue Cross Blue Shield of Texas has made a donation that will furnish the new First Aid Room. This will be a great new addition to our center and an enhancement of services.

Please know that if you are interested in helping raise funds for the new center, you are welcome to join SIMA. We have been in existence for 5 years now and welcome all who wish to help.
