Bill is a native Texan who was born in Dallas in 1930. He spent time in Africa serving as an Army Security and Intelligence Specialist, and has also worked as a retail executive for Bealls Department store, a job which took him all over Texas.
After spending several years in retirement in Austin, Bill knew he was ready for a change. Bill and his wife, Nancy, decided to move to Flower Mound to be closer to some of their eight grandchildren.
Bill has always managed to become involved wherever he has lived. Soon after moving here, he started volunteering with Meals on Wheels and attending the Seniors In Motion program where he is now SIM Advisory Board President. He found that Flower Mound is a thriving community brimming with opportunities to keep him busy. He enrolled in the Citizen’s Patrol classes which opened his eyes to just how fantastic the Town of Flower Mound Police and Fire Departments are at protecting and serving its citizens.
He has served on the finance committee for his local homeowner’s association while he watched the Seniors In Motion group grow and thrive in their new facility. SIM has given him a new lease on life and provides him with camaraderie and entertainment both at the Shirley Voirin Social Senior Center and on the numerous outings with the SIM members.
Bill has recently become a member of the Parks, Arts and Libraries (PALS) Board, and is thrilled to see the enthusiasm of the Town Council members working toward a common goal of growth and continued beautification of Flower Mound. The new playground, Fort Wildflower, which just opened in Heritage Park is a personal favorite and is just one of the many things that Bill enjoys in his beloved Town of Flower Mound.
